Read this before treating anything about FirstIslamicCoin (FIC) as more established than it is.
FIC has not launched on mainnet. It is a public testnet used to validate the software before any real value is at stake. Testnet coins (tFIC) have no value, and the testnet itself may be reset, forked, or restarted at any time as bugs are found and fixed.
FIC is not listed on any exchange. There is no market price today, and no guarantee one will ever exist. If FIC does eventually trade somewhere, its price could be highly volatile, could fall to zero, and nothing about the protocol protects against that.
The genesis premine (14,000,000,000 FIC) sits in a small number of outputs until it is distributed. On mainnet, the recipient is currently a placeholder that can't be spent, pending a key ceremony described on the roadmap. Anyone evaluating the project should understand that supply concentration and its governance are open, unresolved questions right now — not settled facts.
This is early-stage, actively-developed open-source software. It may contain bugs, including ones that could cause loss of funds in a live deployment. It has not yet completed the security review process planned before mainnet launch.
The project describes some design choices as made with Islamic finance principles in mind, but no qualified Shariah advisory board has reviewed or endorsed FIC. See the Shariah design notes page for the honest, current status and the open questions that remain.
Block production is random. Running a staking node does not guarantee any reward, at any rate, over any period — see Tokenomics and Staking for how the mechanism actually works.
Nothing published by this project is a recommendation to acquire, hold, or dispose of any asset, and nothing here constitutes legal, tax, or religious guidance. Speak to a qualified, independent professional before making any decision that depends on those questions.
